WWF-CEE is looking for a Regional HR Expert

With a team of over 200 highly specialised professionals, we are working across political borders through an ecoregional approach based on model projects, influencing policy, networking, capacity building, communication and crisis response. Currently we are present in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Ukraine.

We are currently seeking to recruit a motivated and dynamic Regional Human Resources Expert who will be responsible for supporting the regional organisation in various HR processes (strengthening employment relations, coordinating the recruitment process, supporting continuous employee development, onboarding new hires, implementing new policies, and maintaining HR systems), as well as ensuring that local HR processes and initiatives run smoothly and contribute to a healthy work environment.

The role will be based in Romania, Hungary or Slovakia but working with colleagues from across the region.


Regional HR

  • Supports the HR Manager in various activities and projects in different HR areas: performance management, training and development, job evaluation and compensation
  • Coordinates assigned recruitment and selection campaigns by coordinating job posts, proactively sourcing candidates, screening resumes, organising and conducting interviews, making recommendations for hiring, preparing and communicating to the selected candidate the job offer, in consultation with HR Manager, ensuring timely communication with all candidates along the process
  • Takes active part in designing and implementing HR initiatives, in communicating and reinforcing the organisation's values, philosophy and assists in the development of initiatives fostering a proactive, inclusive, non-avoidant organisational culture 
  • Contributes to the development, update and implementation of HR policies and procedures, and takes part in the implementation of HR tools and systems 
  • Provides support with conducting internal employee surveys (staff satisfaction, organisational culture, etc.) and with the organisation of initiatives and events, as needed 
  • Keeps track of latest HR developments and proactively suggests improvements, based on identified organisational needs

Local HR

  • Acts as partner to local management to support them in resolving any people-related and organisational development matters, provides support with proactive solutions, helps in processing day-to-day employee concerns, in coordination with the HR Manager, as needed
  • Provides support with overall staff administration and contracting, in close coordination with the F&A department, making sure there are no gaps or overlaps. Ensures that new hire paperwork is completed and processed, prepares or updates employment records related to contract extensions, changes of positions and salaries, terminations
  • Contributes to the organisation of local Learning & Development activities (researching training options, taking care of logistics, maintaining training records, communicating with subcontractors and processing contract documentation and invoices)
  • Contributes to the development of local policies and procedures, and communicates relevant changes to staff
  • Provides assistance with any other locally specific HR processes, in accordance with local legislation


  • Education degree: Bachelor of Human Resources, Business Administration or other relevant degree
  • At least 5 years of professional experience, with demonstrated success in developing and operating HR processes, and at least 2 years practical recruiting experience, including working knowledge of applicant tracking systems, solid screening and interviewing skills
  • Proven track record in human resources administration and management, good knowledge of applicable labour and practices
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
  • Positive, empathic attitude, ability to build rapport with others, balancing organisational and individual needs
  • Flexibility, self-motivation, a can-do attitude, and the ability to work in a team
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, ability to maintain confidential information
  • Solid analytical skills and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English (and Hungarian, Romanian or Slovak as native)
  • Solid computer literacy (MS Office, Google, HRIS)
  • Interest and motivation in the area of nature protection
